Adam MacInstosh will take over from the retiring Scott Fraser in the new year.
There is a new person in charge of Kingston Police.
The Police Services Board announced on Thursday that they have appointed Adam MacIntosh as the city's next Chief of Police.
In a news release, MacIntosh brings 25 years experience in front-line policing across Canada. He has also been in leadership positions in police forces in Nunavut and British Columbia, and leadership experience in Ontario.
Some of the accomplishments by Kingston's Chief-Designate include leading major operational responses, coordinating front line policing strategies and supporting officers through critical incidents, community safety challenges, and day-to-day patrol operations.
MacIntosh will officially take over as police chief on Jan. 20, 2026. He replaces outgoing Chief Scott Fraser who is set to retire on Dec. 31.
