Organizers say a full-time Festival Director is key to long-term growth after a successful transition year.
Kingston WritersFest says it is entering 2026 with new momentum and a major step toward long-term stability. After what organizers call a successful transition year, the festival now has the financial base to hire a full-time Festival Director — a move they say is essential for expanding capacity and strengthening leadership.
“KWF25 was a leap of faith for everyone involved—volunteers, authors, funders, and audiences,” said board chair Eric Friesen. “Now, with renewed community trust, a solid fiscal footing, and a longer planning runway, we’re ready to grow again. Bringing on a dedicated Festival Director is the investment that will carry this beloved Festival into its next decade.”
The board is accepting applications until December 18, 2025.
KWF26 will run from October 1 to 4, 2026, a slightly later fall date chosen based on audience and author feedback. Organizers say more lead time and new leadership will help strengthen Kingston’s reputation as a vibrant and accessible literary destination.
