Police say 19-year-old driver blew a “warning” on breath test and is facing multiple charges.
A 19-year-old Wolfe Island man is facing several charges after Kingston Police say he performed a dangerous burnout in a downtown intersection shortly after midnight on November 6th.
Officers on patrol near Princess and Bagot streets noticed a black pickup truck revving its engine at a red light. When the light changed, police say the driver spun the tires, creating a burnout before speeding away.
Officers stopped the truck a short distance away on Ontario Street, where they say they found an open container of alcohol inside the vehicle. The driver provided a breath sample that registered in the “warning” range on an Approved Screening Device.
Police seized the teen’s licence for 30 days and impounded the truck for 14 days. The driver is charged under the Highway Traffic Act with racing, failing to stop for police and having a blood alcohol level above zero as a young driver.
Additional charges were laid under the Liquor Licence and Control Act.
