New rider data puts Kingston fifth nationally, ahead of Toronto, Ottawa and other major Canadian cities.
Kingston is being recognized as one of Canada’s most polite cities, according to new rider data from Uber Canada.
The city ranks fifth nationally, with an average rider rating of 4.94 out of five based on more than six years of rated trips.
Laura Miller, Head of Policy and Communications at Uber Canada explains how this works
Only Sherbrooke, Windsor, St. John’s and Kelowna ranked higher. The results also show smaller cities outperforming Canada’s biggest ride markets. Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Ottawa and Calgary made up the five lowest-ranked cities, although their ratings remained high.
Toronto had the lowest average at 4.88, while Ottawa and Calgary both recorded 4.89.
Across Canada, the national average reached a record 4.90 in 2025, up every year since 2020. About 51 per cent of regular Canadian riders have a perfect five-star rating.
Uber says the biggest reason drivers give lower ratings is a rider’s “bad attitude,” followed by messiness.
The company recommends riders be ready for pickups, clean up after themselves, buckle up and treat drivers and their vehicles with respect. Miller says that your Uber rating may say more about you than you think.
For Kingston riders, the data suggests good manners are helping the city stand out nationally.
