Chief Fraser outlines role in community safety and events
The Kingston Police Community Volunteers (KPCV) continue to be vital to the city’s security and safety, according to a new report by Police Chief Scott Fraser.
In his annual summary released on March 12, 2025, Fraser highlighted the group’s contributions over the past year, emphasizing their role in community events and crime prevention.
Since 1996, KPCV volunteers have been assisting the Kingston Police in non-confrontational tasks such as patrols, missing person searches, and supporting public events like bike rallies, fun fairs, and the 2024 solar eclipse.
With 15 bike-trained volunteers patrolling local areas, KPCV has enhanced public safety and engagement.
In 2024, the group saved $5,719.98 from their budget and raised $7,244.76 through a bicycle auction, which funded appreciation events and donations to the Special Olympics.
The KPCV recently added four new volunteers, further strengthening their ability to support Kingston Police and the community.
