47 year-old Kingston man facing murder charges
Kingston Police have charged 47-year-old Andre Wareham in connection with Thursday's fatal attack at the Kingston Integrated Hub, which serves as the city’s safe injection site.
Wareham, a Kingston resident, faces two counts of second-degree murder and one count of attempted murder. The victims have been identified as 38-year-old Taylor Wilkinson and 41-year-old John Hood. Wareham remains in custody.
Following the incident, the Hub has been fenced off and temporarily closed to allow police to investigate. Kingston Mayor Bryan Patterson called for the closure of the Hub and the clearing of a nearby homeless encampment, citing public safety concerns.
Mayor Patterson emphasized the need to collaborate with community partners to provide health services, including housing and treatment resources, while ensuring the safety of residents.
The investigation is ongoing.
