Board selects veteran officer Adam MacIntosh to take over in January 2026.
Kingston Police Chief Scott Fraser will retire at the end of 2025, marking the end of a long and respected policing career. His last day will be December 31st after years of steady leadership and major accomplishments.
Fraser talks about how long he's been an officer.
Fraser joined Kingston Police in 2021 as deputy chief and quickly rose through the ranks, becoming acting chief in 2023 and chief in 2024.
During his tenure, he focused on financial stability, community engagement and major joint operations with national agencies. He also launched the Police Liaison Team, which has helped improve trust and reduce resources needed for large gatherings.
Fraser says that he's happy with the relationships he's made within the community.
Fraser says he is grateful for the support of the community and the board, noting that Kingston officers “are among the best professionals in policing.”
He says that he loved his career all the way through.
Board chair Jarrod Stearns praised Fraser for his leadership, saying his work positioned the service for long-term success.
The Kingston Police Services Board has chosen longtime officer Adam MacIntosh as the next chief.
MacIntosh brings 25 years of experience in Ontario, B.C. and Nunavut, including work in cybercrime and financial crime. He will officially take over on January 20th, 2026.
