Fraser wraps up his final day leading Kingston Police following a career focused on community trust and public safety.
Kingston Police Chief Scott Fraser is retired, marking his final day on the job after more than three decades in policing.
Fraser began his policing career at just 21 years old in Vancouver in 1991. Now 55, he leaves the profession as chief of the Kingston Police Service, with policing continuing as a family tradition. Both of his children are now police officers.
He joined Kingston Police in October 2021 as deputy chief, became acting chief in January 2023 and was formally appointed chief in January 2024.
During his time as chief, Kingston Police aligned its budget with the City of Kingston’s financial framework, ending consecutive years of deficits. Fraser also oversaw the creation of the Police Liaison Team to improve community trust and reduce resources needed at large events.
He strengthened joint operations with national law enforcement agencies and built closer partnerships with the city and downtown businesses. Fraser says that he enjoyed his career very much.
The Kingston Police Service Board thanked Fraser for his years of service and wished him well in retirement.
