Families can get hands-on with Canadian military history this weekend at the Military Communications and Electronics Museum in Kingston.
The museum is hosting the Highway of Heroes Military Museums Kickoff Event on Sunday, June 22, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The event is part of a new partnership between nine military museums along Highway 401, from Oshawa to Kingston, to boost tourism and community connections.
Highlights include weapons handling, a “Jiffy Jeep” demonstration where a jeep is taken apart and reassembled in under four minutes, and up-close looks at military vehicles like a Bison armoured transport. Kids can enjoy strength pulls, gear try-ons, and bucket rides in a line truck. Visitors can also sample food from a real military field kitchen.
Outdoor activities are free, and indoor exhibits are included with regular museum admission. The event takes place at 95 Craftsman Boulevard in Kingston. Tickets can be purchased online.
