The annual campaign raises money for the Pediatric Program at KHSC.
The Kingston General Hospital Auxiliary is having their annual teddy bear campaign.
This is the 21st year of the campaign that raises funds for new equipment for the Pediatric Program at Kingston Health Sciences Centre.
In a news release, this year is the second of a two-year effort that will see money raised for a point-of-care ultrasound machine. Last year, they raised $28,000 which is more than half of the $55,000 cost of the ultrasound machine.
People sponsor a teddy bear for $100. At the end of the campaign, ‘sentiments’ bears are delivered to young patients across KHSC.
The auxiliary says last year’s campaign saw more than 300 teddy bears distributed to young patients receiving care in eight departments at KHSC’s Kingston General Hospital and Hotel Dieu Hospital sites, as well as at the Weeneebayko General Hospital in Moose Factory.
More than $500,000 has been raised since the campaign launched in 2004.
People can donate through the Canada Helps website until Dec. 23.
