Liberal campaign calls out Conservative placements
There appears to be a sign that Kingston's bylaw regarding the placement of election signs has been broken.
The campaign of Liberal Kingston and the Islands candidate Mark Gerretsen issued a statement on Facebook on Monday indicating they have received complaints about signs being posted by the campaign of Conservative candidate Bryan Paterson.
The statement suggests that residents who see campaign signs on public property to report them to the City's bylaw enforcement.
They go on to say that while some developers have allowed Conservative signs on their property, they are not as impactful as ones placed on private residential properties where there are more Liberal signs.
Kingston bylaw prohibits any campaign signs displayed on public property including boulevards, medians, utility poles, and road allowances.
In an email from the City's communications department to kingstondaily.ca, spokeswoman Kelsey Pye says they have received related to signs being placed in prohibited areas, particularly on boulevards and near intersections where they may pose a sightline hazard.
She says they are reminding all candidates and residents the ensure signs are installed in compliance with the bylaw to help maintain safety and order across the community.
Kingstondaily.ca emailed the Paterson campaign for a comment but did not receive a response prior to publishing.
