Provincial funding will see improvements to specialized services, make repairs, add ICU beds, and more.
More provincial funding is coming to Kingston Health Sciences Centre.
They are receiving $15.82 million that will go towards supporting growing patient demand and to complete essential repairs and upgrades to its facilities.
Among them:
- $9.1 million in funding to support growth in patient volumes and demand for acute and specialized services across southeastern Ontario.
- $2.19 million to open four new Level 2 adult intensive care unit (ICU) beds, expanding KHSC’s Critical Care program, which cares for patients in the region with the most serious and complex medical needs.
- $4.53 million from the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund (HIRF) to complete priority infrastructure repairs and upgrades at both the Kingston General Hospital (KGH) and Hotel Dieu Hospital (HDH) sites.
In a news release, KHSC CEO Dr. David Pichora says the funding will support the services that the region relies on and keep them safe.
He says it will helps them respond to growing patient needs, and complete critical upgrades that keep the hospital sites functional for patients, families and staff.
