Police will be doing spots checks during the holiday season.
Kingston Police will once again be keeping an eye out for impaired drivers this holiday season.
The festive RIDE campaign is underway and will continue until the new year.
Media relations officer Cst. Anthony Colangeli says there will be eight spot checks deployed at various locations throughout the city.
He says the focus of their campaign will be mandatory alcohol screening.
RIDE spot checks have been going on in other communities for the last couple of weeks.
Drivers who are over the legal blood alcohol limit or are shown to be impaired by drugs face an immediate 90-day license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.
