Teams will take on everything from gardening and painting to cleaning and repair work at local non-profits.
More than 400 volunteers from 28 local workplaces will roll up their sleeves on Friday for United Way KFL&A’s annual Day of Caring, one of the region’s biggest single-day volunteer events.
Supported by platinum sponsor TD, this year's event will see volunteers working on 38 projects across KFL&A.
Teams will take on everything from gardening and painting to cleaning and repair work at local non-profits.
The day begins with an 8 a.m. kickoff at the Community Food Redistribution Warehouse, followed by hands-on project work throughout the morning.
Volunteers will then gather for a wrap-up BBQ at Lake Ontario Park in the afternoon.
Now in its 25th year, Day of Caring connects workplaces with local agencies while offering crucial support to under-resourced organizations.
Organizers say it’s a “win-win,” giving volunteers insight into local needs while helping agencies stretch their resources further.
