What do you think?
The future of the Kingston homeless encampment on Montreal St. isn't the only one up in the air.
The Town of Greater Napanee is asking residents to share their thoughts on how to handle encampments in public spaces.
The consultation focuses on homelessness and the fair use of parks, aiming to balance community needs while following court rulings that allow people to shelter in public areas when housing is scarce.
A survey is available from September 16 to October 4, 2024, on the Town’s Encampment Response Consultation page. Feedback will help shape changes to the draft Parks and Public Spaces By-law. These changes will be presented to Council in October.
Residents can also attend a Community Forum on October 1 at 6 p.m. at Best & Bash Arena, which will be live-streamed on YouTube. Virtual questions won’t be accepted, but written comments can be emailed in advance to encampments@greaternapanee.com.
