Gananoque Police suspend Crime Stoppers after Cybersecurity Incident

They join Kingston Police and other police forces in encouraging the public to send tips directly to police.

The Gananoque Police Service has suspended the use of Crime Stoppers as a reporting channel following a reported cybersecurity incident involving a third-party tip management platform used by organizations across Canada.

In a public statement Monday, police said the incident involves the P3 tip management platform and does not affect Gananoque Police systems, networks or databases.

Police also clarified that the Navigate360 platform is not connected to the service’s information technology infrastructure.

The suspension is a precautionary measure as police monitor developments and assess potential impacts.

Residents wishing to report a crime or public safety concern are encouraged to contact Gananoque Police directly at 613-382-4422 or 613-382-4509.

Police said protecting community safety and maintaining public trust remain priorities.

Questions about the incident’s scope or potentially affected information should be directed to the appropriate Crime Stoppers organization.
