Royden Smith collected his first-career OHL shutout in a 5-0 victory over the Bulldogs.
It was a battle between the top two high scoring teams in the OHL meeting up in Kingston on Sunday.
The Frontenacs entered the game with 67 goals scored, one behind league-leaders the Bulldogs. But for the first two periods, both teams could not find the net despite at number of chances at both ends of the ice.
Frontenacs rookie Logan Prud'homme almost collected his first OHL goal but his first period shot hit the post and stayed out of the net.
It wasn't until five minutes into the third period that someone managed to put one in the net. Tomas Pobezal broke the scoreless deadlock with his 5th goal of the season and a 1-0 Frontenacs lead.
Alex Misiak assisted on that goal and two others in a 5-0 Kingston victory.
He says the team remained patient and simply waited for their chance to strike.
Landon Wright, Alex McLean, Nolan Snyder, and Robin Kuzma added goals later in the period, two of them coming on the power play. Sunday's game saw another Frontenacs rookie, Miles Reilly, play in his first career OHL game and had the second assist on McLean's goal.
Head Coach Troy Mann says it was a total team effort from start to finish.
Royden Smith recorded his first career OHL shutout with a 12-save performance. A far contrast to his first game against the Bulldogs on Sept 26 in Brantford where he gave up three goals on nine shots and was pulled after the first 10 minutes.
Smith credits his teammates for his milestone.
Vilmer Salen-Forsberg made 26 saves in the loss for the Bulldogs (11-5-0-1). Brantford never got a power play opportunity in the game.
The win is the Frontenacs' (11-5-0-0) 4th in a row and their 8th in the last nine games.
They are in Ottawa Wednesday for a midday game against the 67's. It is a 10:30 am start and you can listen to it on Upper Canada Fuel and Burner Frontenacs Hockey on New County 98.9 with Jim Gilchrist on the call.
