The work will be done during the daytime, possibly causing minor traffic delays.
Starting Monday, July 28, streets across Kingston will see asphalt rejuvenation work as the City begins treating roadways to extend their life and improve performance.
Superior Road Products has been hired to complete the project using a maltene oil-based emulsion that soaks into pavement, then evaporates. The treatment takes just 45 minutes per stretch and will be done during the daytime, possibly causing minor traffic delays.
Residents may notice roads appearing stained after the process, which can resemble an oil spill. But it’s nothing to worry about. Limestone sand is added afterward to absorb any leftover oil and is swept up the next day.
All impacted locations will be treated for less than a day, and traffic will still be allowed through.
