The City of Kingston is aiming to become a hub for life and health sciences innovation.
A report is being delivered to City Council on Tuesday that recommends the City enter into a memorandum of understanding with key partners including Queen's University, Kingston Health Sciences Centre, and St. Lawrence College.
The report also recommends that Council approve $300,000 from the Working Fund Reserve to help get the project off the ground.
They say the life and health sciences innovation district will utilize on the region's strengths in research, education, and healthcare delivery, to spur job growth and economic development..
The proposed hub will be built on the same parcel of land where a new hospital is being proposed near 401 and Gardiners Rd.
