Elderly victim had been reported missing earlier
Leeds County OPP is investigating after a body was discovered under the ferry dock on Wolfe Island Saturday afternoon.
At 12:30 p.m. on June 28, 2025, police received a report of a missing 70-year-old person last seen on June 27 at the Hitchcock Street dock. While officers were heading to the location, they were informed a body had been found beneath the dock.
The deceased was confirmed to be the missing individual. Police are not releasing the person’s identity to protect the family’s privacy.
A postmortem exam will be done, and the investigation continues in collaboration with the Office of the Chief Coroner and OPP Forensics Identification Services.

The ferry dock is part of a busy travel route between Wolfe Island and Kingston.
