2026 LaSalle Causeway schedule is out

The causeway will open to marine traffic on Sundays starting April 19.

The schedule is out for the LaSalle Causeway.

Public Service and Procurement Canada released the 2026 schedule with the first opening set for Sunday April 19. Closures will take place every other Sunday until May 31 then every Sunday until Sept 6.

Closures will continue every other Sunday between Sept 13 and Nov 15. All the dates are dependent on the weather conditions at the time.

On the affected days, Highway 2 will be closed between Tragically Hip Way and Fort Henry Drive in order to remove the modular bridge and allow vessels to pass through the channel. The road will be closed about three hours prior to the channel opening and will reopen about three hours after it closes to marine traffic. 

Motorists who use the causeway to get to and from the downtown will have to find alternate routes on those dates. Kingston Transit will also be adjusting its bus schedule to accomodate the closure.
