Two people have been arrested after violent robberies in Madoc and Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory on Monday afternoon.
OPP say the first incident happened just after 3:30 p.m. at a gas station on Highway 62 in Madoc. Two people filled a vehicle with fuel, went inside the store and refused to pay. A person inside the store was hit with a baseball bat and seriously hurt, while another person was also assaulted. The pair fled as officers arrived.
About 90 minutes later, police say the same two suspects entered a store on Airport Road in Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory. An employee was struck with a baseball bat and suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Tyendinaga Police and OPP arrested one suspect in a parked pickup truck and the second inside the store.
Tracy Vardy, 59, and Roxanne West, 55, both from Tudor and Cashel Township, face multiple assault, robbery and conspiracy charges. Both remain in custody as the investigation continues.
