The company is commenting on the mechanical issue that left passengers stranded for hours.
After being stranded in Brockville for more than 12 hours, VIA Rail passengers were finally able to resume travel this morning.
Train 669, traveling from Toronto to Ottawa, endured a mechanical issue Wednesday evening. When repairs could not be completed, those aboard were transferred to another train traveling from Montreal to Toronto.
VIA Rail Canada spokesperson, Karl Helou is apologizing to those who were impacted by the delays.
The delays also affected passengers on trains 48 and 54, who were stuck in Brockville from around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday until 10:30 a.m. this morning.
Some passengers waited for hours at nearby stations, including Smiths Falls, while trying to reach the stranded trains.
Helou says an internal review process is underway to find the cause of the mechanical issue.
All affected passengers will receive full refunds and a 100% travel credit.
