Residents paid tribute to soldiers who served and didn't make it back home.
Residents of Kingston took time to reflect on Remembrance Day.
Thousands gathered at the Cross of Sacrifice Cenotaph for ceremonies in Macdonald Park on Tuesday.
There were also ceremonies held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 560, CFB Kingston, and cenotaphs in Sydenham, Verona, and Wilton.
Mayor Bryan Paterson, MP Mark Gerretsen, and MPP Ted Hsu were at the service in Macdonald Park to lay wreaths.
Paterson says the turnout was great despite the snowy conditions and cold temperatures.
There was two minutes of silence followed by the firing of the cannon at 11 am and again two minutes later before the last post.
Paterson says Remembrance Day is especially important in military towns and cities like Kingston.
Many civilians young and old were seen shaking hands with current and retired veterans and offering their gratitude for their service after the ceremonies concluded.
Paterson says this shows that residents are appreciative of the work being done by members of the military.
