Investigators found no wrongdoing after a 42-year-old man was hurt during a police standoff.
The Special Investigations Unit has concluded its review of an incident that took place in Gananoque on August 15, 2025, involving the discharge of ARWEN less-lethal launchers and deployment of a police dog during a confrontation with a 42-year-old man.
Gananoque Police were called to a residence for a disturbance and encountered the man through a broken window.
Officers reported he was in a mental health crisis and armed with a knife, stating they would need to kill him.
Negotiators and the OPP attempted to de-escalate, but after unsuccessful efforts, police forced entry.
Two officers discharged ARWEN rounds and a police dog was released, resulting in minor injuries.
The man was treated in hospital and arrested. SIU Director Joseph Martino determined no criminal offences were committed by the officers.
