Kingston Police are investigating a random hammer attack on a woman in the Kingscourt area.
On Sunday, June 23, 2024, at around 2:15 p.m., a 49-year-old visitor to Kingston was walking with a friend near Kingston Secondary School, close to Kirkpatrick Street and Kingscourt Avenue. As they walked north along the adjacent park trail toward Elliott Avenue, a man approached them, acting erratically and speaking incoherently.
When the women tried to walk away, the man struck the victim from behind with a hammer, causing a minor injury to her neck. The suspect, described as a Caucasian male in his late 20s, approximately 5’10”, with a thin build, brown hair, and a scruffy beard, fled north towards Elliott Avenue.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Detective Bryan McMillan at bmcmillan@kingstonpolice.ca or 613-549-4660 ext. 6343.
