4th line came up with the scoring in the loss.
There was little significance to Friday's game between the Frontenacs and the visiting Peterborough Petes.
It was the final home game of the regular season. Both teams clinched playoff berths and neither were in a position to move up in the standings.
But once the game began, Peterborough got out a two-goal lead early and hung on to a 4-2 victory at Slush Puppie Place. The loss snapped Kingston's six-game winning streak.
Frontenacs Head Coach Troy Mann says the team had to play catch-up the entire game but loved the work ethic.
Frontenacs Defenseman Will Bishop says they had plenty of opportunities that they were unable to capitalize.
Matthew Frost got Kingston on the board before the end of the first period with his 14th of the season.
The Petes would regain the two-goal lead early in the second period. Then with Peterborough on the power play, Riley Clark picked off a pass and went the other way scoring his 4th of the season shorthanded to cut the Petes' lead to 3-2.
Mann says he liked the way his 4th line has played all season.
Easton Rye made one save after another stopping 36 shots in total for the Petes. Gavin Betts, in his last game before the playoffs, made 25 saves for the Frontenacs.
Prior to the game, the Frontenacs honoured their three overage players: Bishop, Maleek McGowan, and Jack Devers. The team also acknowledge former Frontenac Matthew Soto who is playing his overage year with the Petes.
Bishop, who began his OHL career in Sudbury, says it has been a wonderful experience for him.
The Frontenacs will play one more regular season game and it will be against their first-round playoff opponents, the 67s in Ottawa on Saturday.
Game time is 3 pm and you can hear it on Upper Canada Fuel and Burner Frontenacs with Jim Gilchrist on New Country 98.9.
