Housing, cost of living, and Canada-US relations top list of concerns.
Federal Conservative candidate Bryan Paterson has launched his campaign to attempt to wrestle Kingston and the Islands away from the the Liberals.
At his campaign office opening, Paterson said voters are responding well to the Conservative message.
He believes the desire for change is growing, with some voters considering the party for the first time.
Kingston and the Islands has been Liberal-held since 1988, with Peter Milliken, Ted Hsu, and Mark Gerretsen holding the seat over that time.
Paterson, who has served as Kingston’s mayor for over nine years, is basing his campaign on key local issues.
Housing affordability and the cost of living remain top concerns for voters. He also says Canada’s relationship with the United States is a major concern.
Paterson is taking an unpaid leave of absence from the mayor's chair to run in the election, which will be decided on April 28th.
