They say the property will be preserved for public enjoyment, access, and long-term community use.
There are no plans to turn Lemoine Point Farm into residential development.
The City of Kingston provided an update on Monday weeks after purchasing the property on Front Rd for $12 million.
In a news release, the City says the property will not be used for housing or other intensive development. It will be preserved for public enjoyment, access and long-term community use.
They go on to say there are existing tenants on the property, and there will be no immediate changes to the site. However, the City says they will explore potential partnerships with not-for-profits who have expressed interest in offering environmental education, community programming, and other publicly accessible activities on the site.
The City says the property aligns with their Waterfront Master Plan and Strategic Priorities. It will ensure the parcel of land along the waterfront stays open to all.
The City of Kingston were able to finalize the purchase of the 80-acre property last month after a court approved a settlement.
A report is expected to come to City Council on Mar 24.
