The City of Kingston has received a request that would allow amplified music during sporting events.
Kingston residents have a chance to weigh in on a proposed two-year noise exemption for Richardson Stadium at Queen’s University.
The City of Kingston has received a request that would allow amplified music during sporting events from 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. between 2025 and 2027.
If approved, the exemption would apply to Queen’s varsity games, community youth sports, and select events in partnership with the City and Tourism Kingston. Conditions include annual reporting to City Council, continued outreach to residents, and noise mitigation measures such as banning air horns and monitoring sound levels.
Queen’s has committed to keeping the community informed about upcoming events and noise management efforts.
Residents can share their feedback on the request until April 1, 2025, at 4 p.m. by emailing Steve Mothersell, Manager of Enforcement Services, at SMothersell@CityofKingston.ca.
