David DeSantis spent more than 32 years in Catholic education.
The Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board has announced that Director of Education David DeSantis will retire in January 2026.
DeSantis has spent more than 32 years in Catholic education, including the last seven as director with ALCDSB. He began his career with the Halton and Waterloo Catholic boards before moving into leadership roles as principal, superintendent, and a team lead with the Ontario Ministry of Education.
Since joining ALCDSB in 2019, he has guided the board’s five-year Multi-Year Strategic Plan and helped prepare for the next plan, set to launch in 2025. He also served as chair of both the English Catholic Council of Ontario Directors of Education and the Council of Ontario Directors of Education, representing Catholic education at the provincial level.
DeSantis is currently completing his Doctor of Education at Western University. The board thanked him for his dedication and leadership.
