Six teams including the host Kingston Colts are in the tournament.
Canada’s best young baseball players are in Kingston as the city hosts the Little League Intermediate Canadian Championships for the second year in a row.
The tournament begins today (Wednesday) at the newly upgraded diamond at Cricket Field. Six teams will compete, including the host Kingston Colts and regional champions from Ontario, Quebec, Alberta, British Columbia, and Atlantic Canada. Players are aged 12 and 13.
Each team will play daily, with three games scheduled each day. The winner will represent Canada at the World Championships in California later this summer.
The Whig Standard reports Tourism Kingston expects more than $1.5 million in economic activity from this event, topping the $1.2 million generated last year. Visiting teams will enjoy local restaurants, museums, waterfront time, and more.
Thanks to community sponsors and city investment, the tournament highlights both Kingston’s baseball history and its strong support for youth sports and tourism.
