Dr. Sherri Rea was recognized for her 35 years of veterinary work.
A veterinarian in Kingston is being recognized for her long-standing work in the field.
Dr. Sherri Rea was recently given the 2026 Golden Life Membership Award from the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association. The award honours a veterinarian who has served the profession for at least 30 years and has made extraordinary contributions to animal welfare and veterinary medicine.
Rea admits the award took her by surprise.
Rea has spent much of her 35-year career helping animals receive quality health care.
She spent a good portion of her practice in North Bay where she opened up a vet clinic with her husband.
Rea says being a veterinarian was something she wanted to do as a child.
Rea also helped establish the Farley Foundation, a charitable organization which sees pet owners get access veterinary care for their animals during times of financial hardship.
Now back in Kingston, Rea is semi-retired and offers end-of-life service for pets.
