Investigators say "The Com" is linked to online criminal activity.
Kingston Police believe there is an emerging online threat targetting youth.
A group known online as the Community or "The Com" has been using gaming, social media, and messaging platforms such as Snapchat, Minecraft, and Twitch to reach young people.
Investigators say these groups have been linked to online exploitation, coercion, extortion, and other criminal activity.
They are encouraging parents and caregivers to monitor their children's online activities and watch for any warning signs such as increased secrecy around devices, sudden mood or behaviour changes, or declining school performance.
Anyone who believes a child may be at risk or has information about online exploitation is encouraged to contact Kingston Police at 613-549-4660 ext. 0.
