Over 2,000 vehicles were stopped.
Kingston Police stopped 2,000 vehicles in 10 R.I.D.E. programs since late February, leading to multiple impaired driving charges, suspensions, and Highway Traffic Act offences.
Officers conducted 191 roadside breath tests, with some drivers blowing over the legal alcohol limit. One motorist tested twice the limit and lost their licence for 90 days. A novice driver with alcohol in their system was suspended for three days and charged under the Highway Traffic Act. Another driver, already under suspension, gave a false identity and was arrested.
Police also issued fines for open cannabis, caught a driver impaired by drugs, and stopped several motorists with suspended licences or no insurance. Other violations included distracted driving, improper seat belt use, and faulty vehicle equipment.
Kingston Police remind drivers to plan ahead, take alternate transportation, and never drive impaired. R.I.D.E. programs will continue throughout the year to keep roads safe.
