Athletes compete for trophies, swag and the Joy of Julie Award at Holy Cross Secondary School.
Kingston welcomed athletes, coaches and families to the Special Olympics Ontario Basketball Invitational: Kingston Classic on Saturday, Jan. 17. The full-day event ran from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., featuring opening and closing ceremonies and teams competing in B, C, D and D-Rec divisions.
Each team played a minimum of three games, officiated by referees from the Pete Petersen Basketball League. Athletes received participation medals, swag bags, and tournament t-shirts. Division championship trophies and the Joy of Julie Award were also presented.
The day included a bake sale, a raffle for Kingston Frontenacs tickets, and complimentary coffee and tea for spectators. The tournament celebrated athletic skill, sportsmanship, and community spirit in Kingston.
