The canine unit tracked down the suspect about a kilometre from the crash site.
On December 31, 2025, at approximately 5:10 a.m., Kingston Police responded to a report of an individual in distress near Front Road and the entrance to Lemoine’s Point. Officers discovered a heavily damaged vehicle at the scene and launched a K9 track.
The driver, a 47-year-old Kingston resident, was located about one kilometre from the collision site. They were arrested for impaired operation and driving while prohibited.
At Kingston Police headquarters, the individual refused to provide a breath sample for analysis. They have since been charged with operation while prohibited, impaired operation, and failure to provide a breath sample. The suspect was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Police continue to remind drivers of the serious consequences of impaired and prohibited driving.
