The Patry Group of Companies have introduced Keys in Hand program for tenants of their properties.
A local developer wants to help their tenants own a home.
The Patry Group of Companies announced on Thursday a new program called Keys in Hand.
A portion of the rent paid by the tenant will be used as a credit towards the purchase of a new house or condominium.
Principal Jay Patry explains how this rent-to-own program works.
Patry say he understands the hurdles people face when looking to buy a home and wants to help bridge that gap.
The announcement was made inside the courtyard at the Patry property on Princess St. Many of the invited guests in attendance currently rent from Patry.
Diana is one of the tenants and says she is delighted to hear the news.
Mayor Bryan Paterson was also on hand for the announcement and expressed his gratitude to Patry for his part in helping make homeownership possible.
There are three properties that are taking part in the Keys in Hand program where people can buy a home or condo: the District on Gardiners in Kingston, Babcock Mills in Odessa, and St. Alban's Village in Brockville.
Employees of the company and sub-trades are also eligible for the program.
More information about the Key in Hand program is on their website.
