"Sunday in the Country" returns to the Kingston airwaves starting in January.
A familiar voice is returning to live radio in Kingston.
Iconic Kingston broadcaster Jeff Code is joining New Country 98.9, bringing his long-running program Sunday in the Country to the station beginning Sunday, Jan. 11.
The show will air live every Sunday from 6 a.m. to noon, featuring phone calls, music requests and on-air dedications. The format is designed to keep listeners directly involved, something Code has been known for throughout his career.
Code went on with Big G and Matty Friday morning and told them he is excited to be here.
Code has been a staple of Kingston radio for decades, building a loyal audience by focusing on real-time connection and companionship on Sunday mornings. Recent changes outside his control meant his previous show could no longer be live and interactive.
So, we made that right.
Code said it will be the same show he has done for the past 21 years, just on a different frequency on the radio dial.
New Country 98.9 Program Director Dave Devine said, "Adding Jeff Code reflects our commitment to local voices and community-focused programming. Sunday mornings will become an appointment listen, drawing longtime fans and new listeners alike. We're so happy to welcome Jeff into the fold."
MBC, parent company of New Country 98.9, said the move strengthens local radio by keeping trusted personalities live, local and human.
Welcome Jeff! We can't wait to get started!
