Wright's Fight honours his mother and aims to ease challenges for families facing cancer.
Kingston Frontenacs forward Landon Wright has launched Wright’s Fight, an initiative created in honour of his mother, Sandy, following her cancer diagnosis in August.
Wright explains more.
Sandy began treatment in early September and is living in Ottawa with her daughters while receiving care. She relies on Canadian Cancer Society transportation services to attend appointments and can no longer attend Frontenacs games due to treatment.
Wright says his family’s experience has shown him the challenges cancer patients face beyond their medical treatment, including transportation, housing and the need for continued research.
Wright tells us his message for anyone else currently goig through this struggle.
He hopes Wright’s Fight will support individuals and families navigating similar circumstances and improve their quality of life.
The initiative aims to turn his family’s experience into an opportunity to help others facing cancer.
More information about Wright’s Fight, including ways to support the initiative, is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
