Prakash Dayal is challenging incumbent Jimmy Hassan.
This is a series of profiles of the candidates running in this year's municipal election in Kingston.
Today, we are highlighting District 6 - Trillium.
Trillium is made up of mostly residential neighbourhoods but it is home to the city's two major retail shopping hubs: the RioCan Centre and the Cataraqui Centre.
Jimmy Hassan is going after a second consecutive four-year term while Prakash Dayal is looking to unseat the incumbent.
We asked the candidates why you are running for Council in Lakeside?
Hassan:
Describe your platform. What do you hope to accomplish as the district councillor?
Hassan:
Tell us a little about yourself?
Hassan:
Dayal did not respond back to our request to be interviewed for our feature. He holds a doctoral degree from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich in Switzerland.
Among the issues Dayal is running on: lower property taxes, job creation, and promoting a healthy lifestyle. He says he is not a proxy for any interest group.
