Funds will be used to support program for military personnel, veterans and first responders.
The YGK Healthcare Champions Golf Tournament exceeded expectations.
The 2nd annual fundraising event for Kingston Health Sciences Centre raised more than $58,000. That surpassed last year's inaugural event which raised $40,000.
The funds will go towards a pilot program at KHSC that helps veterans, military personnel and first responders living with chronic pain and post-traumatic stress disorder.
In a news release, the Stellate Ganglion Blocks (SGB) is a novel application of a nerve block treatment that treats both chronic pain and PTSD at the same time rather than seperately.
They say the $58,000 will allow more participants to access care and strengthen the program’s ability to evaluate outcomes and pursue future research.
This year's tournament took place at Loyalist Golf & Country Club on Aug. 21.
