The YGK Healthcare Champions Golf Tournament exceeded expectations.
The 2nd annual fundraising event for Kingston Health Sciences Centre raised more than $58,000. That surpassed last year's inaugural event which raised $40,000.
The funds will go towards a pilot program at KHSC that helps veterans, military personnel and first responders living with chronic pain and post-traumatic stress disorder.
In a news release, the Stellate Ganglion Blocks (SGB) is a novel application of a nerve block treatment that treats both chronic pain and PTSD at the same time rather than seperately.
They say the $58,000 will allow more participants to access care and strengthen the program’s ability to evaluate outcomes and pursue future research.
This year's tournament took place at Loyalist Golf & Country Club on Aug. 21.
