The two teams had played each other in the final regular season game in Kingston on Oct. 18.

The Queen's Gaels football team are hoping to duplicate last year's playoff victory in Windsor when they face the Lancers in the Yates Cup semifinal game this Saturday.

In that quarterfinal game, Anthony Lio and Russell Weir combined to throw 245 yards completing 21 of 33 pass attempts in place of injured starting quarterback Alex Vreeken in a 22-19 victory.

This time Vreeken is healthy and says he is eager to help this team get further in to the playoffs.

The Gaels are facing the Lancers for the second time in three weeks. Their last meeting at Richardson Stadium saw Windsor winning 31-28 in regular season finale on Oct. 18.

Vreeken says their defense was especially tough in that game but believes his offence will get things going.

Head coach Steve Snyder says his players are motivated to avenge that loss at home.

The Gaels are coming off a win over the McMaster Marauders in the quarterfinal game last Saturday at Richardson Stadium. The Lancers did battle with the Ottawa Gee-Gees and came up with a win in their semifinal game.

Nick Dimovski completed 14 of 21 pass attempts for 173 yards and a touchdown for the Lancers.

Snyder says he is perhaps one of the more underrated quarterbacks in the OUA.

The winner of this game will meet the winner of the other semifinal game between Guelph and Laurier for the Yates Cup.
