Wolfe Island wind farm remains still

Inspectors are going over the structures to make sure they are safe.

There is no word as to when the wind turbines on Wolfe Island will return to service.

A blade broke off one of the 86 turbines on March 17 causing TransAlta, the company overseeing the wind farm, to shutdown the operation.

They sent over inspectors to Wolfe Island who are going over every turbine to make sure it is structurally sound.

TransAlta said in a news release that the units will resume operations once inspections are completed and the turbines are confirmed safe.

They said the investigation into the cause remains ongoing, and are working closely with engineers and the original equipment manufacturer.
