There will be a celebration Sat Oct 4 rom 10 am to 2 pm.
Loyalist Township will celebrate the 50th anniversary and grand reopening of the W.J. Henderson Community Centre with a free community event on Oct. 4.
The celebration will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the centre on Amherst Drive and will mark five decades of community use, along with the completion of a major revitalization project.
Construction began in spring 2024 and was completed with the opening of the Barr Homes Aquatic Centre earlier this summer.
The event will include a ceremonial ribbon cutting at 10:30 a.m., followed by free public swimming and skating from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Visitors can also take part in family activities, outdoor games and Legacy Space activities, while checking out a vendor market and live music.
The Amherstview Jets will host a barbecue fundraiser.
The township is encouraging residents, former facility users and visitors to attend the anniversary celebration.
