UHKF hopes to calm nerves about canvassers going to homes

The University Hospitals Kingston Foundation have received concerns but no confirmed reports about people impersonating canvassers.

Don't be alarmed if someone comes knocking on your door representing the University Hospitals Kingston Foundation.

They are currently going door-to-door canvassing for donations to UHKF as part of their fundraising campaign.

However, with concerns about one's safety, UHKF issued a statement on Thursday regarding the use of canvassers in their fundraising efforts.

The foundation's President and CEO Tom Zsolnay tells KingstonDaily.ca they have received calls from people asking whether the person is actually from UHKF.

He says there has been no confirmed reports about people impersonating the canvassers.

Zsolnay says legitimate canvassers are professionally-trained and wear identification on their vests.

He says canvassers don't carry cash and won't be asking potential donors for cash.

The canvassers were trained by GlobalFaces Direct, a third-party organization that specializes in door-to-door fundraising.

Zsolnay says UHKF felt GlobalFaces Direct were the best in helping with their campaign.

In the statement, IHKF says the door-to-door campaign raises much-needed funds for Providence Care and Kingston Health Sciences Centre and the donations make a difference in the lives and health of Kingston and southeastern Ontario residents.
