The pair plead guilty to an incident that occurred in June 2024 at the courthouse on Wellington St.
A pair of Kingston Police Special Constables will be sentenced for an assault involving an inmate that was being held in custody at the courthouse.
The CBC is reporting that Chris Nadeau and Chad Mandigo both pled guilty in connection to an incident at the Ontario Court of Justice on Wellington St.
The court heard that the man in question was being verbally abusive towards the two constables on June 21, 2024. Video footage from the cell block shows the victim shackled and handcuffed as he was being escorted for his court appearance.
The CBC story suggests the man was beaten by the special constables in his cell after returning from the court appearance. It was later revealed that he had broken ribs and jaw as a result of the assault.
Ottawa Police conducted the investigation at the request of Kingston Police.
The two men will be back in court for sentencing on Feb. 24.
