Incident took place 40 minutes east of Kingston.
The Leeds Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police is investigating a tragic death at a campground in Mallorytown.
Shortly after 6 a.m. on Sunday, June 22, 2025, a large tree fell on a vehicle and a tent at the site. Officers arrived with Leeds-Grenville Paramedics and the Front of Yonge Fire Department.
A man in his 40s, from Ottawa, was found dead inside the tent. His 10-year-old child was also injured and taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
A postmortem will be done as the investigation continues with help from the Office of the Chief Coroner.
Police have not released the name of the man.

Campers are reminded to stay alert during stormy or windy weather and to avoid setting up camp under large trees.
