Proposed law would cap resale prices at original cost across the province.
Ontario is proposing new rules that could put an end to overpriced ticket resales, a move that may benefit fans in Kingston and across the province.
The government plans to amend the Ticket Sales Act to make it illegal to resell tickets for more than their original purchase price, including fees and taxes. The changes are aimed at stopping professional resellers from driving up costs.
If passed, the rules would apply to concerts, sporting events and other live entertainment. The province is also looking to strengthen protections against fake tickets and unfair service fees.
Officials say the goal is to make live events more affordable and accessible, while ensuring consumers are not taken advantage of in the resale market.
