St. Lawrence College in talks to integrate with Fleming College

The two Ontario colleges is expected to join forces in a major move that could reshape student opportunities.

Fleming College and St. Lawrence College have announced plans to integrate as equal partners, launching a process to create a larger and more sustainable institution across eastern Ontario.

The decision, announced on April 10, comes as colleges adjust to a new provincial funding model. Officials say the move will expand access to programs, improve services and better match training with regional job needs.

There will be no immediate changes to campuses, programs or student supports. Leaders say the integration is designed to strengthen long-term stability while protecting current operations.

Over time, students are expected to benefit from more academic pathways, research opportunities and work placements.

Both college boards have approved a framework to guide the transition, which will include planning and community input.

The new institution will eventually operate under one leadership team as the integration process moves forward.

Current St. Lawrence College President Glenn Vollebregt will be the President and CEO of the newly formed college. Fleming College Interim President Theresa Knott will serve as Associate President and Chief Academic Officer.
